What Are The Benefits of Rolfing/Structural Integration?
Rolfing/Structural Integration is more than just bodywork; it’s a transformative process that helps your entire body achieve greater balance, freedom, and ease. Here on Maui, clients often discover a profound shift in how they live and move in the world.
At its core, Rolfing works with your fascia (the intricate connective tissue web that shapes your body) to release long-held patterns of tension. This allows your muscles to move more freely, expanding your range of motion and improving your relationship with gravity.
Experiencing the full Rolf Method 10-Series can lead to:
A feeling of lightness and fluidity in movement.
Enhanced posture and more graceful movement.
A deeper body awareness, helping you understand your physical self.
Exposure to your true physical potential, de-layering old complexities.
New insight into how you choose to live and move within your body and environment.
Specific Conditions Rolfing Can Help Address
Rolfing aims to free your structure from limitations, creating more space and possibility. While Rolfing is not a medical treatment, by improving your body’s organization and reducing strain, clients often report significant positive changes in relation to:
Body Pains:
Chronic Neck & Back Pain
Sciatica
TMJ Dysfunction
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Headaches / Migraines
Postural Inconsistencies:
Lordosis (excessive lumbar curve)
Uneven Gait (walking patterns)
Twisted Pelvis
Mismatched Body Sides (e.g., uneven shoulders)
Forward Head Posture
Energy & Overall Well-being:
Poor Circulation
Chronic Fatigue (by improving efficiency)
General Exhaustion & Stiffness
Stress-Related Tension
Supporting Function:
Improved Breathing Capacity
Enhanced Athletic Performance (for Maui activities like surfing, hiking or pickleball)
Greater Adaptability to Physical Demands
Literally the best bodywork I've ever received- and I'm a bodyworker who's received a lot of bodywork! Sacha has a gift for understanding the body and what will bring it into balance. While rolfing can be really intense and painful, I feel deep changes after only one session with Sacha. I'm definitely going back.

Sacha is amazing! My husband and I signed up for the 10 part Rolfing series. I had never heard of Rolfing before (my husband read about it) and thus entered the whole experience with no expectations or ideas on what it was all about. It's been 3 months since that point and Rolfing has been one of the best experiences in body work that I've done so far. Being relatively healthy (mid 20s) people, I wasn't sure at first, what Rolfing could do for me. It did so much! I came to Sacha with minor back problems and wobbly ankles (I tend to roll out on my ankles a lot) and she was able to help me through both. My husband, is very flat-footed and his R leg turn out quite noticeable. She was able to straighten that out on the first try! Overall, I think the best thing we both got out of this experience was a sense of "body awareness." As part of the Rolfing, Sacha will teach you ways to stay in tune with your body to prevent aches and pains. She's helped me learned to walk with my shoulder and lengthened my stride. Before, I used to walk very heavily and thus become exhausted quickly. I also was very clumsy bc of my weak ankles. Today I find I can walk much longer and I don't feel the strain in my shins as much.
I would honestly say that Rolfing is not for everyone. It is a bit painful but nothing that a little breathing and concentration can't handle. However, if you're the type of person that can't handle deep tissue massage, then I would not recommend Rolfing for you. Also, remember that Rolfing can't fix EVERYTHING. So, you can always do a consult with Sacha to see if it'd be worth your time. Secondly, Rolfing is a commitment. Be sure to block out enough time for it bc the therapy works in sequence. Lastly, Rolfing is an active process which means you are involved in making the changes in your body. Sacha usually gave me homework to think about between the sessions. It was a way to engage my body to use the tissue that she worked to loosen so that the changes would be more long lasting.
In the end, I think Sacha is a wonderful person and therapist. She is funny, smart and super easy to get along with. She has amazingly strong hands and years of experience. I would recommend her even for a regular massage.

Sacha is a consummate professional healer. After suffering for years, I found rolfing, and Sacha. Working with her through a 10 series was both emotionally and physically life changing. I highly recommend utilizing Sacha's services as a Rolfing professional. Years of neglect had left my body in a less than ideal condition and very much imbalanced. Sacha helped me notice the negative ways my body expresses itself and taught me to walk and carry myself in a more ergonomic way. Our work together has resulted in a significant reduction in pain, more confidence, a greater sense of balance and overall strength in my body. The 10 series has made a very positive impact on my life and I look forward to doing another in the future. Thank you Sacha!

Does Being “Rolfed” Last? The Permanence of Structural Change.
Yes, the changes experienced through Rolfing are designed to be permanent. As Dr. Ida P. Rolf, the founder, eloquently stated:
“Rolfing is permanent. As one student put it, after you’re Rolfed you’re like a Jaguar. No matter how long you drive a Jaguar, it’s not going to turn into a Ford. That’s a very good emotional answer. It’s beautiful because it appeals to all levels.”
Photographs taken of clients years after completing the basic 10-Series consistently show that structural changes are not only present but often continue to improve as the body integrates its new organization.
While life on Maui (or anywhere) constantly presents new situations and choices that affect your body and mind, Rolfing equips your system with enhanced adaptability and integration. Your body gains more internal “room” and a new ability to listen to its own layers, allowing you to move through life with greater comfort and resilience. You’ll gain tools for continual self-healing and growth.
Client-Reported Transformations
Beyond specific ailments, clients often report these profound, lasting changes in their bodies and lives:
Significant relief from chronic pain
A noticeable feeling of lightness & fluidity
Increased presence and connection in their bodies
Boosted energy levels
Naturally erect posture, with more ease
A sense of relaxed self-confidence
Improved clarity and ease in decision-making
Enhanced adaptability to self-healing
Greater comfort with personal growth
Will Rolfing Help My Pain Go Away?
Often, pain arises from areas of stagnation or “stuckness” where your body has braced itself against past incidents – whether from a physical injury, a repetitive strain, or even a deeply held emotional pattern. Your body, in its natural wisdom, often holds onto these disturbances.
Rolfing serves as a powerful tool for re-aligning and freeing these areas. Through precise, external hands-on input, we help your body remember how to release these patterns and move into new, more insightful ways of being. This process aims to open up possibilities for movement and release, directly addressing the roots of your discomfort.
Can Rolfing Improve My Posture?
Absolutely. Stress and habitual patterns often cause your connective tissue (fascial web) to shorten and tighten around your bones and muscles. This restriction limits your ability to stand tall and move with ease.
Rolfing systematically addresses these restrictions. As these connecting areas are relaxed and muscles regain their ability to lengthen and slide individually, your bones naturally fall back into better alignment. This creates more space within your body, allowing your posture to become not just “erect” but truly dynamic, effortless, and resilient in concert with gravity.
